interview with band primary target-finalandYoung band from Finland.
They're really awesome and I suggest you all to check them out on their facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/pages/Primary-Target/244628172292296?fref=ts Band members: Aaro Haverinen - Guitar Jani Somero - Guitar Iiro Karjalainen - Drums Teemu Asumaa - Bass Santeri Kangasmetsä - Vocals I had chance to win CD and to do interview with them, so here we go.. :) 1.What's the meaning of the name? 2.How long band exist and how did you form this band? ~Primary Target was born in October 2011 soon after mine and Iiro's previous project broke up. We knew Jani from the few gigs we had played together so we asked him to join our project and so he did. Then we found this awesome bassplayer Chris Olsen and the band started to look like one. We made a few songs and started looking for a singer and soon we found Santeri and his brutal voice. Original line-up was ready! -Aaro 3.What bands are your music influence? ~I think we all have a bit different taste of music so the list would be endless. So I have to say all kind of music from classical to brutal death! -Aaro 4.Were there any changes with members since you started the band? ~Yes. Unfortunately Chris moved to Denmark just before our first demo release so we asked our friend Janne Jääskö to join the band and he did. With Janne we recorded both of our releases and played lots of gigs. April 2013 Janne quit because of personal reasons and different future plans so we asked our friend Teemu Asumaa to join the band and he was pleased. -Aaro 5.What is your band progress by now? ~We are working with the new material at the moment and trying to hit the studio after summer. Our intention is to make an EP of maybe 5 or 6 songs. Also few nice gigs coming in Finland. -Aaro 6.Have you ever played outside Finland? ~One gig in Tallinn, Estonia. -Aaro 7.Are there any chances to play around the Europe? ~Well we have some plans but it's quite difficult to arrange, because we don't have any kind of deals (yet) so... Of course if we get a change we are pleased to play aboard! Maybe after next release. -Aaro 8.Is your music accepted in your country and do you believe that people will love your band in future? Why? Why not? ~Yes, metal heads have liked our music and especially gigs! Of course I believe people will love our stuff! It just can't be that we are the only ones who like it and if we are then so be it! -Aaro 9.Is anyone from the band member of some other band too? ~I'm also a lead guitarist in Finnish dark/atmospheric black metal band called Kausalgia. Iiro also have another band which is still mystery to us all. -Aaro 10.Are there a lot of people on your gigs? ~We haven't played to an empty venue so far. To be honest a few of the gigs we only had a few people in the crowd but on the other hand some of the gigs have had a full crowd! to give an example one gig had over 70people and the bar had a limit of 80people -Jani 11.What is the atmosphere when you guys play? ~Well we have the atmosphere like a proper metal gig should have! People banging their head and sometimes there's a moshpit going on.When playing smaller venues the band has to push the people back in the moshpit wich is awesome! -Jani 12.People invite you to play or you make gigs on your own? ~Both but we arrange more of the gigs. The band is lucky to have one member who has a backround in promotion and sales,One that knows quite alot of the technical stuff like pa-systems and amplifiers and one that is good in arranging transportation and logistics! -Jani 13.Do you think that you can become even better band? ~There is ALWAYS room for improvement! You never ever become a "complete" musician / band and i bet every single musician would agree with me on this! -Jani 14.Do you think that this band will change your lives? ~In some way it already has! All of the bandmembers have to make some sacrifices with the band but it's all done in the name of good music and good times! -Jani 15.Were you serious about the band since the start? ~Yea i could speak for the whole gang that we are serious about the band and we want to "make it" but of course we all have a sense of humor and we don't do this with dollar signs in our eyes! -Jani 16.Who writes the songs or you all work together? ~Well Aaro writes most of riffs and i also contribute with riffs and solo's. I write the lyrics with our singer Santeri. When we have a song done we of course practice it with the whole band and do the necessary modifications. During rehearsals when we practice new material our drummer Iiro contributes with his drumming of course! -Jani 17..And for the end, can people from Balkan hope for some gig soon here too? ~It's up to you! Make sure to tell your friends about us and tell the local promoters about us and it just might happen -Jani (Questions were answered by Aaro and Jani) Interview was made by MaryAnn |
